The Bicycling Tree: A Symbol of Action
With Circle4Change, we are drawing a circular line through nine countries of Europe. Starting in April 2025, a tree will cycle along this line for five months. With this we are introducing the birthday tree: ‘It’s my birthday, so I’m planting a tree’. In this way, birthday forests will be created all along the circle line, and together we will create a very large work of landscape art. It may seem impossible, but together we can do it. The Power of Bosk – Now into Europe!
Built on the success of Bosk, the walking forest that passed through Leeuwarden in 2022, Circle4Change is now making the move to Europe. Bosk brought people together, made cities greener and won prestigious awards such as the National Event Award and the Dutch Design Award. It inspired others worldwide to start similar initiatives. Circle4Change is the next step in this green revolution.

This adventure introduces a special ritual: “Plant a tree on your birthday.” Birthday trees are distributed in communities along the circle line. Thus, new forests are created, with trees that recall the power of both nature and community. The cycling tree is not only a symbol of change, but also a call to action. By planting trees, we bring nature closer to ourselves, our cities and our neighbors.
Nature Education with the Heart
Circle4Change has an important mission: to connect the new generation with nature. We want to let children and young people experience in a playful way what trees, biodiversity and a healthy earth mean to us. Nature education is integrated into everyday life and education, so that together we learn how fun and natural it is to take care of nature.
